Recently we were approached by a well-known commercial bakery looking to refurbish their divider hopper as the existing coating had worn away due to continuous usage.

In the production process, the divider hopper sits directly on top of the dough divider so that when the dough falls from the hopper to the divider, it divides the dough to the correct loaf size. This method ensures consistency across each loaf.

As the dough needs to move easily from one piece of equipment to the other, a non-stick coating was needed to allow this and to reduce dough build up on the hopper sides. Additionally, due to the demanding production schedule, wear resistance was a secondary requirement to prolong the non-stick surface lifespan.

To begin the refurbishment process, the hopper was put through our pyrolysis oven to breakdown the remaining existing coating and to also eradicate any residual dough present on the surface. Following this, the substrate was shot blasted to provide a key ready for coating application.

Our PR235HB Green Sparkle was applied in four coats by spray application. This particular coating solution was selected as it provides maximum non-stick capabilities along with increased durability and wear resistance.
