Ribbed Bread Pan Recoating – A Customer Story

Published:

In the UK, the bakery industry is huge in terms of revenue and product output in the country. Mainly because baked goods are an integral part of the food culture here...

Exactly How Big IS The Market?

Well, researchers have pegged the bakery industry to have a value of about £4bn in 2019!

Over the last year, the penetration rate has grown to almost 100%, which means, chances are you’ll find at least one kind of baked goods in every UK household.

To keep up with these market demands, bakeries must increase their pace of production.

Recently one of our customers, realised they were facing some obstacles in ramping up production and keeping up the pace and asked us to give them a hand.

Challenges the Bakery was Facing…(And The Solution)

Previously they had silicone glazed their pans through one of our competitors.

While silicone is a great material for withstanding high heat, simply glazing the pans with it was not enough.

They noticed they were applying an excess of release agents for the bread to leave the pan smoothly, which meant a lot of wastage and an increase in cost.

Also, after regular use, they noticed that the exterior of the pans began to rust easily, causing health and safety concerns.

So, the solution was to recoat their loaf pans with PR480 Black, a non-stick coating that can be applied to both the interior and the exterior of the ribbed loaf pans.

The Result..?

The customer was very happy they did not have to throw away their pans as just re-coating them with a different material worked like a treat.

Due to the non-stick coating, the product now leaves the pan easier with less of the release agent so cost savings were immediate.

The cost savings did not end here, either…

Because PR480 increases the heat absorption rate of the bakeware, which means they were able to reduce the burner setting on the oven, leading to savings in energy costs

By using the right kind of coating, this customer can now contribute a large share of bread products to the ever-growing bakery industry of the country.
