Now, if there’s one thing the Northern Europeans are known for, it’s their passion for the environment.
And when it comes to their many industries, they strive to make as little impact on it, as possible.
Outside the Product Release family, it’s a little known fact that the company first started back in 1962, with a Danish outfit called Dansk Silicone Central ApS.
And it goes without saying, that as the company has grown and expanded across the world, we’ve made it a priority to carry on the “green mission” we inherited from our Nordic roots.
As an example of this, just last week we were accredited with the ISO 14001 – 2015 Certificate.
What Is An ISO 14001?
In a nutshell…
This accreditation is set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and it’s the international standard that specifies requirements for an effective Environmental Management System. (Or EMS for short)
EMS is the part of the management system used primarily to manage environmental aspects, fulfill compliance obligations, and address risks and opportunities.
All this while committing to reduce or eliminate the negative environmental impacts of its products, services, and activities and increasing their positive effects.
What Are The Benefits?
More than ever, coming into 2020, the environment is an even hotter topic than it has been than ever before.
And rightly so.
At Product Release, although we have taken great strides with our Environmental Policy, we know there is always more we can do, which is why the ISO 14001-2015 is so essential.
Compliance to the standards help us:
- Improve resource efficiency
- Reduce waste
- Drive down costs
- Provide assurance that environmental impact is being measured
- Gain a competitive advantage in supply chain design
- Increase new business opportunities
- Meet legal obligations
- Increase stakeholder and customer trust
- Improve overall environmental impact
- Manage environmental responsibilities with consistency
And the list goes on.
Integration With Other Standards…
Now, this isn’t the only accreditation Product Release carries. We already hold an ISO 9001 which covers the international requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS).
This is used as the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
(Which in any business is paramount for success.)
Integrating both EMS & QMS, and their respective accreditations (ISO 14001 & ISO 9001) means the organization must meet the environmental expectations of both customers and the government with such initiatives as incorporating environmental management elements into internal audit programs and training sessions to name just one.
Now, as we look forward to 2020…
By gaining our accreditations, we’re confident here we are doing the best we can for both our growing global network of customers as well as for the environment moving into the next decade.
