Finding Mr Right… coating that is!
Recently one of our customers, realised they were facing some obstacles in ramping up their production and asked us to give them a hand.
Their ribbed bread pans, which had been previously glazed with a silicone coating by a competitor, were not performing for as long as they required considering their increasing production demand.
The silicone coating also needed the additional use of expensive release agents to enable the bread to depan smoothly, and as the coating deteriorated, they had to increase the amount used each time. This led to continually increasing costs.
In addition to this, the exterior of the pans, after being recoated so many times, had begun to rust easily, causing food contamination risks.
It was clear a full refurbishment of the pans with a more appropriate coating was needed.
To begin with, the pans went through our pyrolysis oven process to remove all food residues and to strip the existing coating and rust away. The pans were then shot blasted in preparation for spray application.
Our PR480 Black system was the ideal coating for the job as it provides superior non-stick properties compared to the silicone glaze and could also be applied to the exterior of the pans to protect against rusting.
The customer was very happy with the refurbished pans. Thanks to the non-stick properties, the loaves now leave the pan easier with less release agent required resulting in immediate cost savings.
The benefits did not end there…
With less product sticking to the pans, the client experienced significantly fewer production issues allowing them to increase their production output as needed to meet demand.
And because PR480 Black increases the heat absorption rate of the bakeware, this meant they could reduce the burner setting on the oven, leading to savings in energy costs.
