A needle that has to penetrate the human skin has always been associated with pain and for many people just the thought of needle brings out the sweat. Reducing patient trauma has been the bench mark for us during the start of our latest development project for reducing friction without compromising the surface quality.
Millions of EMG readings are performed each year with monopolar needles. Our goal was to lower the friction even more and setting the "gold" standard for friction and quality.
Below are illustrations of the results achieved with the new I2 coating both improving friction and minimising the thickness of the coating.
The I2 Coating has proven surface biocompatibility.
The next picture shows the new needle coating under a atomic microscope. Most coatings looks very uneven. The black area on the picture is not the coating but the curve on the needle that gives the "black area" .
