You may have seen news articles about a study conducted bt the University of California, Los Angeles, on the Maternal levels of perfluorinated chemicals and subfecundity. The data in the study suggests that exposure to perfluorinated chemicals at levels found in the general population may increase time to prgnancy.
Product Release Europe Ltd and Dupont is reviewing the article, but note that the authors acknowledge several potential limitations with their studay, and we believe it is not possible to draw conclusions from this study about a cause and effect relationship between PFOA and time to pregnancy.
Additionally, the weight of evidence continues to indicate to us that there is no health risk to the general public from PFOA.
To further support these findings, an independent, peer-reviewed study, published in Environmental Science % Technology, concluded that use of DuPont commercial or consumer products would not result in any quantifiable exposure to perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) in blood. “Consumer products made with fluoropolymers include nonstick cookware, and breathable, all-weatherclothing. These products are not PFOA, however. The information that the EPA has available does not indicate that the routine use of household products poses a concern. At the present time, EPA does not believe there is any reason for consumers to stop using any products because of concerns about PFOA. EPA wants to emphasize that it does not have any indication that the public is being exposed to PFOA through the use of Teflon® coated or other trademarked nonstick cookware. Teflon® and other trademarked products are not PFOA”
